It's not my favorite, but in terms of new features and good concepts and movement of the series forward, it was definitely the best game overall. It's probably technically better than my favorite generations, but I just don't like it as much. However, I have to give credit where credit is due. It was the first mainline game to use 3D models, the first to do trainer customization, it had a pretty engaging and interesting story line, the characters were easy to get attached to, and it tried some weird shit overall. The dungeons weren't as good as previous games, but at least they were still dungeons and the entire game wasn't a tutorial like SM. I can acknowledge that it was probably the best generation, but not my favorite. SM or more specifically Gen 7 is a CLOSE fucking race there, though. ORAS and USUM definitely have shit going on that could easily elevate them above XY, there's just a handful of issues I had with each that I don't think I can overlook enough to ignore them.
