Maybe he gets him to properly train his fucking charizard in earlier seasons, or stops him from abandoning teammates, or sets up things so he wins a fucking league for once. Then he spends the rest of his time flirting with the female lead of the season, or fighting off in the wilderness, or working as a wingman to get Brock laid. It depends on what type of Pokémon the MC is, but I feel like something small and cute would work best.
