Aether had been working on exploring Ultra Space since before Mohn disappeared. In pursuit of this, Aether was attempting to do unmanned exploration using porygon and porygon2. It didn't go too well going by the dex entries. Like how porygon2 had trouble moving. To solve this, Faba was put in charge of writing a program to allow the things to work in alternate dimensions. He made the dubious disk as a solution, but it was buggy as fuck because he's Faba. The project was then dumped, but Faba would later made under the table deals to sell dubious disks to the public for his own benefit. Interested parties like Team Galactic would later buy into it. He was never caught due to Lusamine subsequently going over the deep end following Mohn's disappearance. It's called porygon-Z due to the relation to the ultra space energy used in Z-moves. Gladion eventually gets one because it's another one of Aether's mistakes that needs love.
