>>42541530I really liked the Champion Cup. I like the fact that the League is treated more like a tournament than just some venue to battle the E4 and Champ, who realistically should only be able to be fought after winning against other trainers in some type of gauntlet. Victory Road has always been more of a grand training area for experienced trainers than an actual location to duke it out to decide who’s the best, especially when you can skip said trainer battles.
I also like that the other Gym Challengers who got almost as far as you did are the competitors in the postgame tournament. Again, it adds weight to everything and it genuinely feels like you are actively competing against other trainers in the region. It’s a Title Defense but done way better which is what I was hoping for.
And it being a total of 7 battles just makes it all the better, regardless if you get healed or not, because most of the battles in my opinion were the most challenging in the entire game, especially Leon.
The games still suck but I really enjoyed the way they handled the League this time around
