Avalugg they decided to treat its measurement as length instead of height, so its WAY the fuck smaller than it should be. Wulfric's reference art proves this pretty decisively.
And then there's odd inconsistencies, like Roaring Moon being measured length wise, but Salamence height wise. Not to mention compared to other games, where things like Tauros are way smaller than how they appeared in SM as ride mons, but thats a whole other bag of worms.
