I'm old (33), so back in 2005 when the old sea map event came out I was old enough to realize it was something pretty unique. I spent a good amount of time convincing my Mom to buy me a Japanese copy of Emerald off eBay, and made sure it had the old sea map event on it.
Maybe it was injected via game shark. Maybe it wasn't. The wonder card was on the game, and the event text was all there as well. And I doubt an eBay scammer would put in that much effort.
Either way, it took me 4500ish resets to get the shiny. Skipped school for two days.
