Gen 2 can trade with Gen 1, but it can't battle, therefore Gen 2 is still a new gen.
LGPE can't trade or battle with SM/USUM therefore it's a new gen.
If Sword and Shield were games with all regions in it instead of a new region, would people still call them Gen 7?
