Groudon is very smooth, sloping, and looks likes a simple 3d model, while Kyogre is smooth, symmetrically frilly, and doesn't have white scalera Pokemon eyes. They don't look like something someone sketched out Sugimori watercolor style. But as we know they would be the first and mildest of that strain.
