I'd love to take on the more playful and trickster nature of fairies, which is why I'm taking Zorua/Zoroark as a bit of an extra surprise.
When first entering the gym's city/town, you find out that locals in the town/city talk about the gym not having a physical building at all, rumours saying it's a location in another dimension.
You're guided into a forest via a stray Pokémon, and in the middle of the forest, you see a large clearing inside, with a fairy ring layered in the middle. Once you step into the ring, a blinding light makes you close your eyes for a second, and as soon as you open them you find yourself inside of the gymnasium.
It seems like an open and infinite forest, the sky is the same as Twinkle Tackle's background, and you can see litwicks, morelluls, illuminise/volbeats coming in and out of the trees. In front of you is what looks like a maze of trees, which is the gym puzzle. The point of the challenge is that you find a branching path with three choices, and before you can take one, you see three pokémon enter the three paths, the trick to finding the correct way is to find the odd one out. (First branching path is an eevee, a morelull, and a comfey- follow the comfey as it's the only one that doesn't evolve. Second is a popplio, an azurill, and a cottonee- follow the latter as it's the only one already a fairy type. Last is a zorua, a mimikyu, and a cutiefly- the answer is the cutiefly as it's the only one who doesn't have an ability that relies on a sort of transformation) Choosing a wrong answer leads to a dead end on the maze, and a trainer fight.
After defeating the gym leader they step aside to reveal a second fairy ring which you can step on to exit the gym if you want.
Badge looks bad because I can't design for shit lol
