>>34706752>>34706771It fucked every wall without instant recovery
Offensive pokemon without dual type became mostly bad, and even some defensive one (see: Milotic)
The increase in offense made it harder to check things without specialized walls as you could get 2HKOed even by resisted moves (remember when CB Heracross was a thing?)
As another point to that, walling by stats alone got killed. Things such as Cloyster, Regice, Swampert and Milotic were good despite not resisting the strongest moves in gen 3.
Moves were poorly distributed. While dragon gets a 120 BP and a 140 BP STAB for both offenses, ice didn't get anything, for example.
A whole type was made irrelevant. Normal types lived on being the only physical attackers with a 120 BP physical STAB
All the problems that we have today with balance started in gen 4. Hell, as an easy example, if Draco Meteor and Outrage didn't exist, fairy-types wouldn't either, which means Tapus would be bearable.
Another example: if the split didn't exist, GF wouldn't have added recovery to every damn new wall, which means full stall teams would be unviable. Say what you will about GS, at least it didn't have extremely good teams based on 5 walls plus 1 revenge killer (if even that).
As for that last comment, actually, gen 3's powercreep was a direct response to gen 2's stall. Pokemon were given just enough power and moves to end games, which is why Dragon Dancers were so important to the meta. But, besides Choice Banders, you didn't see anyone running around 2HKOing (or OHKOing in some cases) the whole meta like today.
