No one knows how it got there since Pawniard is not native to Hoenn. There's no doubt a traveling trainer abandoned it there. It was causing all sorts of trouble since it was angry over being abandoned and afraid by being in a totally unfamiliar environment.
Meanwhile Gallade was a scared and hungry Ralts wandering Goldenrod city, probably came in from Route 34. Steele managed to courner it in an alley and lure it out with food and took care of it until it willingly let itself be captured. Gallade has an Ash's Geninja thing about it where it was nothing special when found but later became his best Pokemon.
>What secrets of the past are we talking about?He's an archaeologist in addition to being a trainer. His main goal is learning more about the Legendary Titans specifically Registeel. But anything pertaining to the history of Humans and Pokemon fascinates him.
