While FRLG and HGSS replaced their counterparts as canon, due to incompatibility with the older games, ORAS is unique in that a pokemon can be sent from the originals and through a chain of compatibility up to the remakes. My theory is that the time machine trade system in this canon wasn't invented during the events of HGSS, like in the Gameboy canon, but in fact during XY and B2W2, (the timeframe of which also lines up roughly with XD:GoD, if that compatibility need be explained), and that ORAS is a new timeline created by the effects of time travel.
