If tumblr can make half-assed art that hides their bad tastes with racebending, and film makers can use historical revisionism* to please the dyed-hairs, then why can't online artists racebend? It's not like they run the franchise. They have no responsibility in steering the franchise on a proper course and maintaining fictional integrity.
Now, if Game Freak (or whoever else somehow manages to run it) brought Nessa back later and made her fair-skinned while appearing in a tropical region, then I would find reason to be concerned as it upsets continuity and shows carelessness on part of the company.
*To be fair, some of the enforced diversity may have merit in fact depending on if history buffs can verify it as history has contridicted common knowledge from time to time.
