>>44636214>>44636273I can see some very strict regulations regarding breeding enforced by the government. Like which species can be bred in which quantity, special restrictions regarding certain potentially dangerous species like Dragons and caps on the price they can be sold for.
But the stricter the regulations, the bigger the potential black market. I mean, the games or anime will never pick up on this, because this gets dark and depressing really fast, but imagine the illegal trafficking and trade of animals in real life, but on steroids. Rare species that your aren't allowed to catch at all (like Lapras, which was close to going extinct in the wild) getting auctioned off in some sketchy hideout.
>On the flipside, I can also see poorer/regular owners having to keep their Shiny Pokemon hidden, lest they be beset by shiny hunters.I wouldn't be surprised if shiny pokemon owned by regular people got stolen frequently by people like Hunter J from the anime to be then sold to some rich collector.
The logistics of pokemon breeding lead me to sinister places quite fast, it seems. And yet I cannot imagine this world that is obsessed with competitive battles and contests to be any other way.
