>>22602405It overstayed its welcome, it shouldn't've leaped right into Gold and then Emerald and then Firered and then so on and so on. It was a really fun experiment the first time that led to a lot of hilarity and then they tried to do it again and it went about as well as your average cash-in movie sequel.
Not to mention as more people lost interest, the higher percentage of viewers were obsessed with "lore" trying to make a narrative out of things. I remember in Johto they were trying to get the character to release Feraligatr so they could recreate the controversy of releasing Abby in Red. With Red, when shit like that happened, it happened because of the luck of the draw. Some people wanted that stuff to start happening on purpose to try to build an artificial narrative, though. As those people began to overcrowd the game it turned cancerous.
I had fun with Red, and if they stopped after Red and then waited until like six months or a year to do Gold, it would've stayed fresh and -might- not have gone down the drain the way it did (though it might've been brought down by the lorefags anyway).
Just try to remember it for the good times and not the bad.
