>>48198738Decided to go for Gaia for my next Nuzlocke. Has been pretty frustrating so far NGL. Not due to difficulty, but due to the enormous difference between catchable Pokémon and number of areas.
At this point I'm at 7 caught Pokémon out of 100+ catchable mons. It should give pretty great replayability since your teams likely will be pretty different every time, but man is it frustrating to see so many things you don't get to catch.
I have an Intimidate Staravia with pretty good IVs so I can't complain too much, but getting a Whismur out of the 20 different possibilities in Archan Tunnel and missing out on early game Gyarados due to going in blind has pissed me off a bit. I've now cheated a bit and looked up some encounter tables to ensure I won't miss out on my two favorites in Gyarados and Tentacruel. This made me realize that not knowing the encounter tables actually makes it less fun as you want to make an informed decision whether to go for the grass, surf or fishing. Getting surefire encounters is boring (not going to go for any static encounters or gift Pokémon), but I at least want to weigh my options.
Immediately losing a pretty good Shuppet due to a confluence of hubris and bad luck was par for the course, you're always going to fuck up like that.
Getting Zigzagoon instead of Taillow was a little annoying, but Pickup has me rolling in cash and his Normal STAB and good early movepool was actually pretty helpful despite garbage stats.
Hardest fight so far was Vincent with his 6x Smeargle team who were all L16 and one L18 when I had three L17 mons and the rest significantly lower than that. Staravia carried though.
