For instance gameplay tactics that work in gen1 won't in gen3 and vice versa.
Because they have different graphics, musics and atmosphere. For instance, no remade version of Lavender Town has ever beaten the atmosphere pouring out of the original one. Another good example being Pokémon Mansion and how each new iteration after the first one, starting with Yellow, made it lose a bit of
soul every time.
Because you have to play the original game several times to realize how much it's done for the series and how each gen for the longest time has tried to recreate its greatness, to the point it looks like even the devs themselves weren't sure were it came for and thus copied even the most meaningless things in the hope it helped the greater scheme.
The later devs acknolwedged the greatness of the original and for the longest time never dared to venture much off the path, so you should experience it too in its original glory.
In the best case you'll realize it still hasn't been surpassed in some aspects, and in the worse case, even if you don't agree with that, it's only going to make you appreciate the sequels and remakes more; and at least you'll be more knowledgeable on the bases of this game series you're supposed to be a fan of.
