look, times change, and people change with it. people dont want modest well thought out character design. our technology is so much more advanced now, we have more colors, and spikes, and wings and even more evolutions. Not taking advantage of this technology would be a huge waste of potential, something genwunners cant understand.
another point id like to make is society expects less from its youth these days as compared to the 90s. Whereas youre average child in the 90's would be riding bikes, or playing ball.. kids these days have more responsibilities and peer pressure put upon themselves wit hthe rise of social media. couple that with the fact that it is perfectly acceptable to be homosexual, and it isnt so bizarre that the pokemon design team chose the route it did.
