All my stupid collectible gag builds from Gens 3 and 4, and even my modern competitive builds from 6 and 7 are 75% invalid for entry. This is not a good thing when there is quite literally nothing else to do in Gen8 except online battling and raids (which are prep for online battling)
Additionally, I like being able to restart one game repeatedly while sending in one or two Pokemon from the other version so I can play through with different, unique teams. By removing 500 pokemon, they have removed 500 reasons for me to replay the game and 500 reasons for me to buy both versions rather than one
So, from my perspective, there is absolutely no reason to buy or even play the game unless I go balls-deep on VGC. And if I do that, I have to start over from scratch as well.
None of the excuses for cut content are satisfactory explanations, and the provided new content is not a satisfactory exchange.
