I don't think even they would be stupid enough to actually cut other (pre-gen 6) pokemon from getting mega-evolutions, they'd lose a boatload of their fanbase by doing so. It's obvious that it would cause a lot of rage, and if they do go down that route, the company will ultimately lose money. The ideas of megas are still hard to sink in for some people, picking fan favorites will only end up with many players deciding to not get the game.
