Ended up decided to play Platinum just for the release order continuity. I used the trainer card method again for my starter and rolled Chimchar this time, which had me rubbing my grubby little paws together considering how insane the Monke is. Unfortunately, we missed out on Budew and can't use Psyduck, so Roark is a little scary. Also lost two members early to grinding crits; one a Shinx (which I didn't care about since it was Rivalry, and we caught an Intimidate Shinx shortly after) and a Bidoof (actually mattered since I was hoping to use Rock Smash against Roark). We did get Onix in Oreburgh Mine though, which was a big deal. Roark's team mostly went down without much fanfare to Mach Punch Monke, but I did have to swap out Wukong after taking a hit from Cranidos (Modest nature is slightly unfortunate). A pivot to Jockstrap let me use my one healing item on Wukong, sent it back in, and one more Mach Punch did the trick.
>>54287862>>54287941Congrats on the win! Some unfortunate losses to Wallace, but glad to see the Solrock secure the dub. Still, great work considering Wallace's team easily does a number on like half your team. Best of luck in Gen IV!
>>54286330I love Mr. Resetti Dugtrio. Would be great if you could copy and paste two more Mr. Resettis right behind him. Unfortunately I think Slowpoke is a Blue exclusive, and Gyarados is probably better saved for future games where it gets both Intimidate and physical STAB. Lapras, Poliwrath, and Golduck are all solid choices, but you might as well use Nidoking while it's at its strongest in Gen I. Though you do have a Ground-type already. Also, what's with all the Porygons going around in Gen I in these threads? Not that I'm complaining, love to see lesser-used 'Mons.
