Did you forget that Gen 2 introduced mainly baby pokemon, shitmons nobody wanted to use, and pokemon that people barely knew existed?
Did you forget the Gen 2 anime being boring and long-winded?
Did you forget about Gen 1 taking priority over Gen 2 in both the games and anime? (Seriously, rewatch the Johto league conference. Nearly every Gen 2 pokemon existed to job and make Gen 1 pokemon look better.)
