It by far had the biggest fan backlash of all the gens. People were shitting on it, calling the Pokemon ugly, and it just overall wasn't as highly praised as the last couple. Overtime it has gained a loyal following, but it is definitely when a lot of people lost faith in the franchise and I think it's safe to call it the start of the decline.
