I liked this game, but I don't think I can recommend it because the game part is the weakest link, what I really enjoyed was the characters, dialogue, and story. I don't mind that it was only up to gen iv pokemon, but it was slow as hell and it had as much qol as a gen iv mainline game. the tournaments were meh, they had to exist to get the plot moving from place to place but they got in the way of what I wanted out of this as time went on. It didn't have many bugs, no crashes, only a weird error sometimes when I used ice punch.
When it isn't about the tournament is when it shines, the characters are memorable and well written, I started to accept the "no ghosts" thing because it went out of it's way to show how serious it really was to the region, the main dilemna with the mc and his brother was intriguing. The only real letdown is the stupid shadow cloak suit, what a cop out, fuck right off. But I can honestly say that I feel like shit with this ending in a good way, because I actually care about the characters and how badly it's ended up for them, espicially the mc. Showing the mom just having to walk away really got me. I'm not saying it's the next novel of our generation but when it comes to these fangames it was excellent. I can't recommend it as a game, but I will rate it 8/10 because it got me emotionally, highs and lows.
