>>41503703They don't look better. They just look cleaner in a sense. The lack of compression and Fresnel lighting makes them look like plastic, which is a shame since certain Pokemon would benefit from varied textures and rendering techniques. For example take Copperajah, her artwork depicts her as having metallic and stone like qualities, therefore we could assume that an easy fix for her model would be to split the parts or her mesh that are meant to be metallic from the ones that are meant to be rougher and more jade/ stone like. Sadly what we get is just a base texture with no bump maps, spec maps, or anything added to them. This results in a model that looks like it has this clean paint coat on it, which when coupled with the lighting makes it look like glossy plastic. Now granted, maybe this is the aesthetic Pokemon is going for, however when I see Pokken, and a big move to a mainline console, I would've loved to see the core series mature in this aspect by giving the Pokemon more visual details. Also, I'm not even going to touch dexit, it's clear that it's just a hot-button topic to get under the skin of people with some goddamn sense. I miss Nidoking, Exploud, Dragalge and Luxray.
