For my entirely amateur part I'm loving this. It is rounder than the original image, but that's distinction and works for small Pokemon like Pikachu, and I like that the tail's color actually transitions from yellow to rust to deep brown. The original is just yellow, slightly lighter brown, dark brown. That actually sounds like an angle to explore compared to the original style.
