Actually in the past couple years video games have felt like more and more of a chore in general, in part because I have more work and responsibilities, in part because I might prefer music or a book or going out with friends when I want to relax now, as opposed to back when I was a teenager and eternally on the internet and playing games.
So I dunno. The good thing about Pokemon is that if I ignore all the third versions and sequels (which I do) it's a new generation every ~4 years (admittedly this one came earlier), so it'll be fresh and enjoyable for at least a while.
Still, I'm 22 and you can't help it if your perspective on kids' games changes as you grow up. It's sad because I'm still fond of video games, but sitting down and just marathoning something for hours on end is not a thing I can or want to do anymore.
