>>18451371>gen 6 added less than gen 5I like gen 5 as much as anyone, but it basically did nothing in terms of innovation. Triple/Rotation were just variations of singles/doubles, there was nothing really interesting or unique about them. Infinite TMs was good, but that was a pretty easy change.
Even ignoring graphics, Gen 6 brought us Fairy types, hordes, Super Training, PSS, Wonder Trade, Friend Safari, Amie (a gimmick, but the best one in years) and Inverse battles, which were all fantastic additions (I guess if you want to include Megas you can, but IMO they weren't that great).
Plus they had the biggest revamp of core mechanics since Gen 2, with breeding, types, critical hits, a ton of moves, and even some Pokemon's base stats getting buffed or nerfed. It's by far one of the most eventful gens in terms of changes in a long time.
