I voted for Hoenn, but both Hoenn and Sinnoh are at the top for me because they make you feel the most like you're on an adventure. I love all the wilderness, the long routes, the locations that really do a great job of making you feel far from home. Unova and Kalos were severely lacking that, I felt, by having such short and bland routes (Unova especially), and the main focus is put onto the cities. It really makes me think of phrases like "half the fun is getting there" and "the journey is better than the destination" an essence which I feel like the newer games don't have, because there's hardly any exploration and adventure left, and the most effort is clearly put on how many cool cities they can make.
I mean, if varied and interesting cities are your thing, it's okay to like that. But I personally never had much of a problem with most of the somewhat generic six house towns in the older game, because each one had a certain charm about them that kept them distinct, in my opinion.
