>GSC added almost nothing of merit to Pokemon as a franchise. Pokemon as a whole would probably have been better off without GSC, as more development time could have been spent on RSE, which, considering how progressive they were, are more deserving of the "Generation 2" title than the actual Generation 2 games.
Alright, I know it's bad to give credance to bait posts, but I really have to step in here cause this is almost too ridiculous.
Let's ACTUALLY compare what each of these gens added to the franchise.
Gen 2
>pokemon gender
>pokemon breeding and all the intricacies that come with it
>splits the special stat into special attack and special defense
>held items
>a proper inventory
>letting you quick select an item
>berries
>move deleter
>day/night cycle that lets you encounter different Pokemon
>time-based events in general
Now let's look at Gen 3
>abilities
>natures
>double battles
>move relearner
Not only did Gen 2 add far more, it could be argued whether or not something like natures actually makes the game actively worse.
