He probably smells the best he could for someone in the Edo?/Meiji? period. I could see him having baths at the hot springs as often as he can, and putting flowers on his clothes to smell good and be presentable for clients. There's probably a hint of sweat under all those clothes. His hair must smell amazing, Cogita probably taught him how to wash with special oils/creams (as subsitute for shampoo/conditioner as those weren't invited yet) Volo strikes me as a guy who takes care of his appearence and has good hygiene lol
