>>35828418absolutely nothing about lugia's design screams "bird" to me in the same way that ho-oh or pidgey or fearow does. hell, the newer birds like pikipek, talonflame, etc. don't have visible feathers either and they're all still recognizably birds. the consistency of lugia's hide and the ways its shaded in all the official art suggests that it would be more akin to the skin of a whale or another similar sea creature. its "wings" are closer to huge hands than anything else, with 5 clearly identifiable, stubby fingers on each one. even the creases where the neck and the body meet evoke a clearly fleshy appearance. if this is supposed to be a bird, then it's one hell of a stretch.
