>>39332693I’d like to seriously expand on this, as Aggron is a mon I hold dear to my heart and Tyranitar almost as much. The rivalry they had started in gen 6 and was fully fleshed out there, as Tyranitar and Aggron have quite a few things in common. Both:
-Are very slow, bulky rock types (Tyranitar favors offense while Aggron favors defense)
-Are version exclusives to one another (Aggron appears in X and is the Balloon Boss of Y, and vice versa)
-Are portrayed as insanely powerful beasts of nature who feed on minerals and have a drastic effect on the environment around them, good or bad (Tyranitar can reshape entire landscapes in their rage while Aggron protects the natural world and plants trees to rebuild what gets destroyed)
-Have contrasting types, Tyranitar is Dark type while Aggron is Steel type, showcasing their respective attributes clearer (and could be seen as Light and Dark if you view steel as a light type)
-Are famous for their insane power (D-Dance T-Tar or Choice Band Rock Head Head Smash)
-Have similar weaknesses (a x4 weakness to fighting being the biggest one)
-Are based on classic eastern movie monsters (Godzilla and Pulgasari)
-Have names that are reflective of their status in nature (Bangiras and Bossgodora)
-Have very similar move pools and learn many things the other can, with some exceptions like Dragon Dance and Head Smash
-Both evolve twice and have some similar design elements between their final forms (stance, shape, general dinosaur-isn appearance, etc)
-And finally, both have extremely strong Mega-Evolutions that complement each other perfectly and expand on their attributes, with Tyranitar becoming a space-godzilla like monstrosity with insane power while Aggron gains the highest defense stat in the game tied with two others, loses it’s rock typing and gains filter, and gets a significant power boost as well
