>>34959274the shift to single type costs on dragons is kind of a moot point for me, like why does it exist as a type when it has only negative weakness matchups? Dragons made sense when they were only weak against themselves from a 'where is this type's place in the game' perspective, now it seems that if they want dragons to be good, they have to print stronger than average effects on them to make up for the fact that unlike every other type, they don't ever get free weakness matchup wins.
Kind of like how Dark type has been historically, since so few psychic cards are dark weak. We see a lot of darkness decks because Dark gets really, really good cards, while Dragon has kind of just gotten mediocre cards with jank costs, which is especially harmful for stage 2 decks which are inherently jankier.
I remember getting into a long argument with some idiot on pokebeach about dragons and he was arguing that some pro would manage to make Kommo-o viable without DDE (when it wasn't WITH DDE).
>>34959315this is what the meta looked like right before guardians rising. Now we have a meta where ~50% of the top 32 at every event, both standard expanded, is Zoroark.
>>34959339Neither of the Glaceons is that good of a counter to Volc. Kiawe/Ho-oh can OHKO the GX and takes 3 hits from it to KO. EX is weaker than it used to be due to Guzma. Honestly I think the grass araquanid is the best answer to it, all Volc can do against it is start investing energy into Lele, which is a losing play for them. KO the Lele with banded crossing cut and retreat to another araquanid.
