Hatterene IS violent, but it's only distressed by loud noises and hostile intent directed at it, and a Hatterene with a trainer will be able to overcome these issues somewhat and mellow out a bit. It still annoys them, but now it's just that: an annoyance, rather than something inducing murderous levels of rage.
That being said, anyone who wants to do the bad thing to Hatterene is still expressing hostile intent towards it and will probably be screeching, so it's going to kill them either way, my point was just that they don't hate emotions in general.
