>>21438049Hi guy. I'll get you helped out, provided you're still around.
Getting stared with mapping is kinda complex, but really fucking simple at the same time. Step one is to get yourself RPGmaker.
http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/4557673/RPG_Maker_XP_Special_Edition_Full___Keygen has been the torrent I've used for it (because who the fuck wants to pay big bux to get this shit). One issue with it is that its version is a little old, but that doesn't make a huuge difference. Just make sure you clear out all Enterbrain related files from your computer before using the installers in this torrent, because even having the slightest trace of the newer versions of RPGmaker messes everything up since the keygen only works for the old version. Don't worry about it being the old version of the program, there are no compatibility issues with the map files themselves. If you make a map here, it'll work for the real deal.
Next step is to start a project in the program. To do this, just click the New Project button up top, prettty straightforward. Once you've got a project established, a folder will generate for all your project-related files. IDK exactly where it goes, but it should be somewhere pretty close to where you've got your .exe. Probably.
Next step is to load a tileset. In our map dropbox, (
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/d9n947wa2vdc4sp/ooxe-EBbmT), we've got a base tileset that you can use right off the bat. Shouldn't be too hard to find, since its got its own directory (its the image that real fuckin' long and has a bunch of cliffs and grass and stuff). Once you've got that, you're going to put it in the [Your Project's Name]->Graphics->Tilesets folder. Once its in there, go ahead back into RPGMaker.
Up in the top bar is a button called Database. The button kinda looks like a dialog box, and when you click it it'll bring up a dialog box. This screen manages all the assets your game is using, but you don't care about 95% of that. (continued)
