The sound design of HGSS with the ambient sounds, the sound of the ocean etc. is perfect overall, but the sound of the traditional doors in this town stand out as really hammering home the atmosphere of the place.
When you talk to your Pokémon, IIRC they note the smell of burnt wood in the air, coming from Kurt's workshop.
Every element of the game comes together to provide atmosphere. It's also nestled between a forest and a few hills (where it rains sometimes!), and the architecture is nice.
