That said, I don't give a shit about the cull and don't plan to wait to get it used. The cull is clearly for BS corporate reasons, but it's also something that SHOULD be a liberating force that lets them do more shit. The problem is they don't really seem to be doing as much with that freedom yet.
Is it a dumb design choice and seems super fucking cheap? Yes. And that's what Pokemon is full of.
I played FO4 despite knowing how much Todd lied cause I've come to put up with the BS due to liking the core game enough. Didn't fall for FO76 cause they finally broke the core game to the point where I wasn't interested.
Likewise, I'm gonna get either Sword or Shield because I understand the fucked up shit they deal with in developing the games and am fine with it as long as the core is still there, which it is for now. Once they break it, I'll stop buying.
It's a bit hedonistic, but I never gave a shit what happens to the series beyond my personal enjoyment anyways.
