Master..? I nuzzled you and you whipped away my tears. Your smile still never faded from my mind.
You held out a red pokeball with a old faded heart sticker on it.
"I release you."
Master.. Please no-- I-I'm still yours! I howled.
At that moment, the ball had crumbled from it's age and it's dust blew out the window into the sunset.
"You're free now. I want you to start a family, I want you to be happy. I know I've scared you over the years doing stupid things, and age has finally caught up with me.. But please don't worry for me anymore. I'm not in pain."
You sat up and I put my head in your lap. I used my psychic powers that have come to me over the years to help hold you up. I could feel your heart beat, it was fading. My eyes wouldn't stop watering. I looked at you, and I could see you fighting back your tears.
"Thank you. Thank you for helping all my dreams come true. Thank you for your love, your loyalty, your gentle but stubborn ways. Thank you for being the brightest burning flame in my darkest hours. Out of anyone in the whole universe, I loved you the most. I couldn't have asked for a better friend."
"I love you with all my heart. I will always be with you."
You gave me your biggest smile, and kissed my nose and the tears rolled down your cheek soaking into my fur. You gave me one final hug. At that moment I could feel your heart slow and you let out your last breath.
"I love you too, master."
I howled and stayed at your side until your oldest son arrived. He was crying. He petted me and thanked me for being your friend. I nodded and walked out. I slept at your grave for years depressed, and your children kept trying to get me to come back home. But it wasn't home without you. Eventually they gave up trying.
