>>25337069Your complaint about the difficulty curve is a valid point. I never saw any of those problems with the difficulty besides the vitamin abuse because wands completely broke the game for me, which goes back to your statement about crutches. As much as I liked that certain orbs from past games were repurposed to be abundant enough that I'd rather use them than hoard them, they were so abundant that it eventually became more efficient to just wand away enemies instead of actually fight them. On the plus side, it did make using a lot of different Pokemon viable for once since it doesn't really matter who waves the wand. I still liked the dungeon-crawling gameplay itself because the vastly improved partner AI without a reliance on IQ skills and leader-switching brought over from EMD already makes it an enormous improvement over the first two games, since it made me feel like I was coordinating a competent team for once. However, I'm still baffled at the idea that the latter feature was removed from all of the story dungeons.
I feel like the levelling could've been handled better if the game hadn't forced you into completing the story and let you take your time with side missions like the first two games, or at least spaced major plot points apart with miniature side-stories. Actually, I just wish the game didn't force me into completing it at all. Exploring the whole world was a lot more enjoyable than being forced to follow a straight path to the finish while having everything optional dangled just out of reach.
