It's an entire franchise spanning six handheld consoles including phones (yes I'm including Pokemon Go) and five different home consoles, a children's anime cartoon, several manga series, and hundreds of different toys ranging from figurines to plushies to electronic Pokedexes. And that's not including all of the unofficial stuff, like ROM hacks, PokeMMO, and Pokemon Showdown, for the PC.
And no, every game is NOT almost the exact same. Compare Pokemon Go, Pokemon Stadium, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team, and Pokemon Gold, and tell me to my face that all three are exactly the same. Go on, I dare you.
