>>36669097>Pokemon designs were largely either ugly (Conkeldurr), outside the spirit/aesthetic of Pokemon (Vanilluxe) or clones of Kanto Pokemon lines, limiting choice of bros.>Pokemon were unbalanced, with intentionally bad ones (like Serperior-line) vs overpowered ones like Ferrothorn and Genesect clogging competitive. Powercreep began in earnest this gen, including atrocious min-maxing of Pokemon (Darmanitan, e.g.) introduction of Hidden Abilities and stupidly strong ones (like Prankster), which made Pokemon gimped in base game in order to balance their buffs with the abilities (like Serperior) that still took forever to be released>Annoying friend companions following you around and stopping you frequently, not to mention other NPCs like Alder with even less relevance to your protagonist doing it; not even likable like Barry>Elite 4 members have 4 Pokemon and they are each equally weak>Forced, hamfisted story and characters (giving the golden boy you might not even give a shit about despite the story wanting you to the spotlight before credits roll) that goes so far as to force you to capture the box legendary, and be unable to become champion before the postgame.>Cheating final boss with underlevelled Hydreigon.>Baited the long awaited "is training evil?" angle, including pestering antagonist who decides you were right all along, then abandoned it at the end in favor of the most generic villain (literally take-over-the-world) the series has had to date>Poorly orchestrated champion theme and anti-hype legendary theme>Almost no post-game to speak ofThese are some of the reasons to hate Black/White.
Not to say it did nothing right, but it is nowhere near perfection, and might even be near the bottom of the heap.
