The point here is that eating like the OP is legimate for all Pokémon just as it is for Scooby-Doo. The reason is pretty obvious, they're using the imagery of kibble and the way it's eaten to evoke the sense of a Pokémon being like a pet. AFAIK Digimon are not depicted eating this way, at least not the later stages. I pointed out a while ago but Pokémon don't use utensils when eating their food even when they can, but the series has no trouble showing Pokémon using utensils when eating people food which shows it's a very deliberate and calculated image.
