Sometimes you just need a strong understanding of the fundamentals and knowledge of higher level play to be able to understand and explain what needs to be done to players who may even be better than yourself. So whether or not if someone is a good player if they have a strong grasp of the game they would still be able to "coach" us stronger players so to speak.
