>>35064828>Plot has always been shit and the series would be better off just having it be "beat the league" and focusing on exploring an interesting world freely.I've always felt this way. Pokemon's greatest strength to me will always be its ecosystem, the series' biggest draw and its most unique feature is its broad array of animal creatures, so for me the series is at its best when you're allowed to explore a diverse world and discover all these different species of Pokemon without restraint from normal JRPG shackles like heavy world-saving plots and endless cutscenes. Any game is capable of telling a story, but Pokemon is really the only game where you can be a glorified insect collector and really connect to nature through its wildlife, so I don't know why they keep wasting their time making grandiose chosen one plots where the fate of multiple universes are at stake and the 10-year-old child gets worshipped by every character in the game for being so amazing. Each Pokemon game tries to outdo the last in terms of ridiculous scope for the sake of power fantasy/wish fulfillment/feeling like a "badass", but I just want a game that evokes the feeling of pic related, being in the middle of nowhere, left to your own devices and having to fend for yourself, and your only companions are the Pokemon by your side.
