Let's also not forget Cubone who got a whole ep dedicated to him and then got relegated to a background mon status. Even now many of Go's mons appeared only during the capture (which was most of the time instant) and as a background. I cannot even imagine him having 50 more in the park considering how much he has to do every day to those he already has.
