Every generation gets their own dog Pokemon. As much as I love dogs, they're not really my thing as it's very mundane (though I can appreciate their existence). Therefore I'd like one to go along the same route as Manectric and take a more wild inspiration, and I like the Yamabiko youkai so it all works out.
Yamabiko is a term to represent delayed echoes in mountainous areas and the Yamabiko youkai is an incarnation of such, the echo being the Yamabiko answering back.
