>>34099512Or, maybe it's because the basis of the game is still as good as ever, but the secondary content that doesn't matter as much isn't as good as it could've been? I mean, even if a Pokemon game doesn't have a 50+ hour endgame or offer tons of side shit to do, odds are you're still gonna be able to comfortably play it and have fun for at least the amount of hours you'd spend clearing any new video game.
Pokemon series fans just tend to be surly grognards who got used to the constant upwards tendency of the content value of the series, and got disappointed all the way back in D/P, when the games didn't quite reach up to Emerald levels of awesome. And the skepticism towards new games never left.
