You can post individual locations all you want and claim they're fantastic, and you'd be right. But the point is that all of the regions (except Kanto due to the hardware limitations at the time) have fantastic individual locations like that. And if we're comparing only the isolated design of the landmarks, etc, I'd argue that while previous generations lack the graphical improvements that makes Kalos nice to look at, overall their top locations are much more imaginative and better designed.
Kalos still gets a bad rep as a region that it doesn't deserve only because of the issues people had with the gameplay.
Laverre and Snowbelle are easily in my top 10 favorite pokemon cities.
