It's the time aspect. The gen 5/7 exp gain system slows this shit down, despite there already being a system that makes levelling up slower over time. This means that there are two systems working together to make it harder and harder to level up the more you play. If every time you level up, you need exponentially more points to level up again than you did before, but you also are earning less and less with every level, doesn't that seem like overkill? like a waste of time?
